“Office of the Commissioner of Police, Federated Malay States, Kuala Lumpur. 5th February 1908. Sir, I have the honour to submit the attached statement showing the number of cases brought before a magistrate in the Ulu Langat Police District and the sub-district of Sungei Besi in Kuala Lumpur in 1906 and 1907. 2. As you are aware the Police in the Ulu Langat District are in charge of a European Inspector who resides in Sungei Besi and who has to take all the Sungei Besi and District cases to Kuala Lumpur. 3. This necessitates his being constantly in Kuala Lumpur and he has therefore insufficient time for the proper supervision of the Police in Ulu Langat. 4. In view of the large number of cases in the Ulu Langat District and the number of Stations to be supervised I would suggest the advisability of stationing a European Police Officer in Kajang. 5. Sungei Besi and Salak South I would then suggest be brought on to the Kuala Lumpur district and one of the Kuala Lumpur inspectors be stationed in Sungei Besi - the Kuala Lumpur District being divided into 3 sub districts for administrative purposes. 6. If you concur I would ask you to be good enough to approve provision for an Inspector's Quarters in Kajang for 1908. 7. I would further ask you to approve the amendment of the Gazette Notice 381/06 of June 22nd. 1906, as regards the definition of the Kuala Lumpur and Ulu Langat Police Districts by the publication of the attached. 8. Owing to rumours of trouble at the Chinese New Year I have already instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police to temporarily post an Inspector of Kajang under the orders of the Inspector at Sungei Besi. Description: Commencing at Gunong Seping and bounded thence on the southeast by a line bearing southwesterly to Bukit Chenuang, on the east by a line bearing southerly to Bukit Blachan, again on the southeast by a line bearing southwesterly to Bukit Sungei Puteh, again on the southeast by a line bearing southwesterly to Bukit Sungei Besi, on the east by a line bearing southerly to a point on the District boundary between Kuala Lumpur and Ulu Langat bearing due east from Bukit Jalil, thence on the south by a line bearing westerly to Bukit Jalil, again on the south by a line bearing westerly to Bukit Permatang Kumbang, on the west by a line bearing northerly to a point due east of the southeastern corner of Sungei Buloh Forest Reserve, again on the south by a line bearing westerly to the southwestern corner of the Sungei Buloh Forest Reserve aforesaid, on the southwest by a line bearing northwesterly to Bukit Puyuh, again on the west by a line bearing northerly to Bukit Mayang, on the north by the District boundary between the Districts of Kuala Lumpur and Ulu Selangor bearing easterly to the State boundary on main range and thence again on the east by the State boundary bearing southerly to the point of commencement. - S? Commencing at Gunong Seping and bounded thence on the north by the State boundary bearing easterly to Gunong Besar on the east by the State boundary between Selangor and Negri Sembilan. bearing southerly to Sungei Sumpar, on the south by a line bearing westerly to Bukit Tunggu, on the southwest by a line bearing northwesterly to a point on the Ayer Itam road bearing due south from Bukit Permatang Kumbang, on the west by a line bearing northerly to Bukit Permatang Kumbang aforesaid, again on the north by a line bearing easterly to Bukit Jalil, and thence due east to a point on the District boundary between Kuala Lumpur and Ulu Langat, thence on the west bearing northerly to Bukit Sungei Besi on the northwest by a line bearing northeasterly to Bukit Sungei Puteh, again on the northwest by a line bearing northeasterly to Bukit Blachan; again on the west by a line bearing northerly to Bukit Chenuang, and thence again on the north-west by a line bearing northeasterly to the point of commencement. - S?
